Can’t wait to ride it, but it’s been pouring down rain lately. It’s kind of a fluorescent red which is good during hunting season in Montana. I need to figure out a mod to my bike rack so it will fit but otherwise good to go.

It has hydraulic disc brakes, a 120 mm front fork and a carbon fiber frame. The down tube has a hinged opening at the water bottle cage and you can stuff it with spare tubes and tools and stuff, it’s pretty cool. They call it a SWAT box.

1by11? its a nice set up. I’ve been out of the bicycle world for about 6 years now. I kinda want to get back into it, but thats another 9 grand (i have 2 bikes, a roadie and a mountian) that I really dont want to spend and I can spend on motorcycles.

All I need is a 15mm x 110mm fork mount adaptor and it will work. I sold some other bikes to get it.

I’m ridding the same road bike I got in 2008 and it is still relevant for what I need it for. Mountain bikes have evolved a huge amount in the last few years. This is basically a slack angle all mountain hard tail. Should be a hoot to ride.

yea, i bought a Fuel EX 8 right when the 29er crazy started. it was a AWESOME bike for the time...but years of racing have worn it down a bit.

Carbon hardballs are fun as hell. They climb like road bikes but are shitty when going downhill...but still fun. I’m wary about the lack of a chain guide, despite the narrow-wide...

I rode one before I bought it. I PR’d a downhill segment on the HT that I had ridden on my 120 mm dual suspension bike about 20 times previous so I’m not to worried.

You should! if you’ve already got bikes, why do you need to spend nine grand?

Seriously nice bike! I wish I could do a hardtail, so much less money than 140+ travel full suspension. That’s basically what I need to be comfortable on my local trails. But I’m sure you will have a blast on it!

My trek definitely need the fork rebuilt. But fuck it. it still mostly works. It’s still fun. Or you can find killer bikes for about a grand used.

Thanks! I’m hoping it isn’t too rough. The 3" tires should help a bit. Funny you say that because the salesman was like are you sure you want a hard tail?

That is my ideal setup. Hard tail, no front derailleur, big hydraulic discs. Looks like an awesome ride. Enjoy it!

I just checked, 200mm front and 180mm rear discs, wow that’s some stopping power.

Haha I actually ride a hardtail right now. it works, but I’m a lot slower than everyone else because of it. If I tried harder to keep up on my bike I would die. But on a comparable bike to what everyone else in my group rides I’m one of the fastest.

Nice machine, congrats! The pics are a bit blurry so hard to tell - but did you replace the stock pedals with clipless?

Yes, I use shimano XT or XTR clipless pedals on my bikes. It ended up being really hard to photo in the garage, the artificial light coupled with the bright color, the camera was very confused.
